01.06.2010. Alumen8's XPX selected for IESNA Progress Report.

In the annual Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Progress Report, a product-based international competition to select new lighting products that “advance the state-of-the-art in lighting” and display significance in design, engineering and operational benefits, the 8-XPX from the Alumen8 division of Amerillum Corporation was declared a winning submittal, according to an independent panel of judges appointed by IESNA.

Judges are each professional lighting engineers and designers in private practice, who often select and specify commercially-produced luminaires and other lighting products available in the open market for use in client projects.  Typically, hundreds of entries are made each year during a proscribed entry period with specific written requirements that are evaluated, discussed and ultimately judged.  Award winners are recognized for their products’ contribution to the advancement of the state-of-the-art in lighting and overall significance to the lighting industry.

XPX
is Dark-Sky Approved and is notable for its strikingly architectural, integral linear lighting design, mounted to an in-ground round or square pole from which the luminaire suspends at the top, from one end, in a cantilever form.  Center pole mount and wall-mount series are also available to complement.  As in geometric architecture, the horizontal linear light housing projects beyond its fulcrum and is uniquely supported by a counter-balanced point of attachment to the vertical support. Highly energy-efficient, uniform, aimable fluorescent illumination operates with 90% light-emitting performance while maintaining wide, even distribution. XPX meets International Dark-Sky Association requirements with a full 90-degree cut-off.  No light spillover, light trespass or wasted light.

These distinctive-appearing T5 or T5HO light fixtures replace harsher, more energy-consuming, glare-producing, low- or high-pressure sodium, metal halide or incandescent pole-mounted fixtures. View an online photo comparison of HID versus T5 here see the difference in color rendering, increased light levels, decreased watts and no sky glow. Retrofitting to these lower wattage exterior luminaires can generate highly significant yearly energy savings, and up to a 75% decrease in wattage consumption.

Aerodynamic XPX luminaire housings are constructed from 60% recycled aluminum extrusion for longevity and strength and can withstand up to 100 m.p.h. winds. An integral hinged doorframe with stainless-steel latching provides tool-less access when needed and is patent pending. The doorframe surrounds highly impact-resistant quarter-inch tempered glass and a high-reflectance internal aluminum reflector.  Low environmental-impact powder-coated bronze finish is standard; other RAL standard or custom colors may be specified.

XPX is an outdoor, all-weather pole-mounted street/roadway and area luminaire, employing between two and six T5 or T5H.O. linear fluorescent light sources in each lighthead. Lightheads are distinctively mounted in a cantilevered fashion from one to four units, at right angles on the top of a pole.  Individual units range from 117- to 350-watts each of pure white 85/C.R.I. light.  They replace metal halide and high-pressure sodium light sources with equally long operating life but consuming 400 to 1000 watts each.  Significant energy savings can be achieved when retrofitting existing poles from MH/HPS to the 8-XPX - up to 75% wattage reduction. Lighting efficiency for Alumen8 8-XPX product is an exceptionally high at  90.8% by independent laboratory test.  Units have non-glare 90-degree cutoff, are cold-weather operational to -20°F weather. A full complement of mounting options are available, or we can engineer to fit your needs.  Options include 15degree tilt, photocell sensor, and more.

XPX delivers non-glare, highly energy-conserving Dark-Sky Approved, long-lasting outdoor illumination ideal for a broad range of commercial, institutional, light industrial and municipal environs.  These includes office buildings and corporate parks; library, school and university grounds; military-base facilities; automotive dealerships; civic buildings and grounds; upscale retail stores, enclosed malls and strip malls; hospitals, clinics, and physician office buildings; law and accounting buildings; entertainment and themed venues; museums; transportation terminals; residential condominium and gated-community properties and overall city street lighting.  Wherever the need for high lighting performance coincides with a want for durability, exceptional energy conservation, long operating life and negligible maintenance.

Alumen8 XPX models are UL and cUL wet listed, International Dark Sky Approved, and meet U.S. D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) requirements for use on public highways and toll roads of all kinds.  XPX Series is UL, CUL Wet Location listed, sealed and gasketed, made in America.
